Water Aerobics
Whether you need aerobics for arthritis or for a good cardio workout, we have a program to fit your needs. We offer both shallow water and deep-water aerobics. Shallow water aerobics involves all joints and large muscle groups. This is a wonderful way to ease pain caused by many painful conditions.
Deep Water Aerobics offers a more intense workout. In deep-water aerobics you will use all joints and muscle groups as in shallow-water, but at a more intense level. This will keep your heart rate up as you exercise.
Swim Lessons
A child that can learn how to swim early in life can enjoy years in the water. Teaching children or adults swimming skills and water safety could save a life!
We offer semi-private and private lessons for anyone from 6 months to 99 years young. Call 443-1778, today, to learn to swim.
- Semi-Private Lessons consist of 5 classes, 45 minutes long for $50.
- Private Lessons consist of 5 classes 30 minutes long for $90.

Our facility is available for Private Rental. Perfect for Birthdays, Celebrations, Field Trips, Family Reunions, or Just Because! You get private use of the pool for 2 hours for up to 20 swimmers. A certified lifeguard on duty during the party. Cost $125.00
History of Brooks Pool
In the late 1920’s the YMCA built the pool and gym facility for the residents of Paducah. Many people remember learning to swim here back then. In the 1930’s Paducah Junior College bought the property and it was usede by the students for their athletic program.
The property was then purchased by Broadway United Methodist Church in the 1960’s. It became a mission of the church ministering to a wide range of people. Many people in the community still use our pool; children; youth, adults have all learned to swim, participate in aerobics exercise, swim for fun, birthday parties, and even scouting activites are held at our facility.
Brooks Pool was named after the late J.Polk Brooks. An early renovation of the facility was made possible with monetary donations after his death.
Brooks Pool works with the American Red Cross to provide lifeguard training for youth in our community. This allows them to find jobs at local country clubs, city pools and water parks. We also continue to offer swim lessons to children and adults of all ages, day and evening water aerobics classes, and private rentals for day cares, scout troops, churches and others. Being an indoor pool allows us to offer activities year round.
We are pleased to be able to continue the heritage of the Brooks Recreational Center. It’s a historic downtown landmark open to everyone!
